Hi Erin:
Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately fortified products do not use D3 as its not stable enough to use in products that are going to sit on the shelf for a long period of time. D2 requires an additional metabolic conversion via the liver and kidney before converting to D3. So you make an interesting point. Regardless, I don't consider it inferior, just not as bioavailable as D3. I agree that if you are going to supplement with Vitamn D, it makes sense to take D3 as it is closer to the active state then D2. Realize that the reccomended doseages are quite different depending if you are taking D2 or D3.

Are you concerned about non-dairy products being fortified with the inferior vitamin D2? For this reason I try to buy the unfortified drinks for my kids and then fill in the gap with other better quality supplements. What do you think?

Hi Marie:
Reasearch is showing that Grhelin (your appetite hormone) goes up with sleep deprivation. Meaning, that its likely more difficult to feel satiated when you have had sleep disrupton.
Best regards,
Dr. Rinde

Mike and I tried Coconut Bliss a few weeks ago. We both love it, and will eat it even if we are allowed to eat dairy again! We've only tried the Naked Coconut kind, but plan on trying others. It's nice to have something so tasty when I can't have chocolate!
